When you are viewing the Green Map on the H50, you may notice an “S” Shot Scope icon displayed around the green.
What the “S” Icon Shows
The “S” icon represents the angle you are approaching the green from.
It shows what the front of the green looks like from your current position. This means the device is not using a fixed front edge it adjusts based on where you are standing.
How It Works
As you move around the hole, the “S” icon will move to reflect your new angle of approach.
This ensures that:
The front of the green is always relevant to your position
Distances are calculated based on the direction you are playing from
How Distances Are Calculated
The Front, Middle, and Back distances shown on the device are all calculated using this angle.
The Front distance is effectively the distance to the “S” icon
The Middle and Back distances are then calculated relative to that same approach angle
This provides more accurate yardages, especially when approaching the green from the side or at an angle.
Why This Is Useful
By adjusting the green based on your position, the H50 gives you a more realistic view of the green and more accurate distances for your approach shots.
This can help with club selection and course management, particularly on angled approaches.
